Relaunch Coming 1.6.12

It's been a couple of months since I last posted here (I've been busy writing for Unleash the Fanboy), but I'm going to relaunch PTS soon with a new name, design and focus. I won't post regularly, and a lot of content will be my editorials for UTF, plus trailers. And that will all happen on 1 June, coinciding with the release of Prometheus - oh, and the end of my exam period thing at school.

Pre Titles Sequence will relaunch on 1 June.

Episode five of Being Human series four, Hold the Front Page, airs tonight! In tonight's episode, Adam the 46 year-old vampire who looks like a teenager, returns, with schoolteacher Yvonne in tow, on the run from the press? Will the existence of vampires be revealed? The Pre Titles Awards 2012: The Categories

Yes, I know I said I would do these next week, but I'm bored, so y'know... So, here's the revised category list for this year's Pre Titles Awards... With some added, and some taken away.

The normal awards:
BEST WRITER
BEST DRAMATIC MOMENT
BEST ACTOR
BEST ACTRESS
BEST DIRECTOR
BEST CAMEO
BEST EPISODE
BEST SHOW

The one-off amusing ones:
THE JAMES LANCE AWARD FOR EPIC DANCING
THE MERLIN AWARD FOR CREATIVE INSULTS
THE ANNIE AWARD FOR NICENESS
THE MORIARTY AWARD FOR PURE INSANITY

And a couple of notes: first of all, I'm adding an extra day to the awards so that last year's problem doesn't happen again (too many awards, too little time led to a fair bit of criticism) and not publishing them so frequently. The Pre Titles Awards 2012 happen from 27 March-3 April. I'll post the nominees next Friday!

Thursday 1 March 2012

Coming Up in March 2012

Yup, it's March 1 today! And as a new, monthly feature, I'll be telling you what's coming up in the month on the blog. So, here's what's coming up this March on Pre Titles Sequence...

Being Human series four news - The remaining four episodes of Being Human series four all air this month, and I'll be posting all the latest news, synopses, trailers, and shouting. Hopefully not the shouting, but then you never know.

Doctor Who series 7 filming pics - Poor Doctor Who. I've severely neglected it as filming began a couple of weeks ago, and it's been sort of diminished by the constant influx of Being Human and Marvel Avengers Assemble news. But I'll be posting all the latest photos from the set of series 7 this month. Hopefully.

Speaking of Marvel Avengers Assemble... As the release of Marvel Avengers Assemble comes nearer, I'll be posting TV spots, pictures, and spoilers. That is, if we get any...

Merlin series five begins filming - Exciting, right? Yes, the fifth series of Merlin begins filming this month, and I'll be uploading all the latest filming pics.

The Pre Titles Awards 2012 - Remember the Pre Titles Awards from last year? Well, I'm bringing them back for a second year (and bringing the start date forward, since they happened in June last year) and they're going to be better than last time. The actual awards will be happening from March 27-April 2, but there'll be a bit of build up beforehand. I'll post the revised category list next week (some added, some taken away) and then the nominees the week after that! Here's what series will be up for the awards:

DOCTOR WHO SERIES 6 PART 2
THE FADES SERIES 1
MERLIN SERIES 4
SHERLOCK SERIES 2
BEING HUMAN SERIES 4

That's it for the preview, and come back April Fool's Day *cough* April 1 for the preview of April.

Marvel Avengers Assemble: Trailer 2

The new trailer for Marvel Avengers Assemble (yes, I, and loads of other British sites are happy to call it that) has been released. And if you've seen the first trailer and the Super Bowl ad, then you'll probably have had high hopes for this second full-length trailer. And happily, it does not disappoint. Here's the trailer:

Marvel Avengers Assemble: Poster

Marvel have re-titled The Avengers in the UK, changing the title to Marvel Avengers Assemble to avoid confusion with a 1960s TV show called The Avengers. They've also announced a brand new release date of April 26 in the UK (that's eight days before the US release - heh heh) and released a poster to accompany the title change:

MARVEL AVENGERS ASSEMBLE IS RELEASED IN THE UK ON APRIL 26, AND ON MAY 4 IN THE US.

Ghost Town

Episode four of Being Human series four, A Spectre Calls, airs tonight! In tonight's episode, 1970s ghost Kirby comes to Honolulu Heights to 'help' the supernatural trio, or cause lots of violence, angst and general evil stuff. My guess is that he'll go for option two. Here's a clip from episode 4:

Star Trek 2 Filming Pics

Next Time: A Spectre Calls

So... after a seriously good, funny episode three, and a nice little cliffhanger ending, we're onto episode four of Being Human series four. And in episode four, titled A Spectre Calls, we have ghost Kirby (that guy we saw stepping THROUGH the door back into the real world yesterday) visiting the house, and causing TROUBLE. And ANGST. Here's the trailer:

Return of the Vampires

Episode three of Being Human series four; The Graveyard Shift airs tonight! In tonight's episode, Hal needs to get a job. I can see things going veeeery wrong on that front. He's also facing temptation from Fergus the vampire (y'know, like the number two vampire? The one that's not QUITE as good as Cutler? Him). Here's the trailer for episode 3:

The truth about Leo part 3

A/N: FINAL CHAPTER!!

The way the Doctor was looking at him scared him. A Mixture of pity and anger.
"What?! What is it?"

The rough background of what was happening right now was simple; They were on a planet, not Earth, home to the Aquasians, Underwater creatures in their normal form, but could replicate any animal, human or alien.

"You are one of us child, you have returned home!"
"I-I don't understand, how am I?"

The Doctor turned to him, speaking softly, "The TARDIS, an amazingly complicated alien time machine with a mind of her own, and of course exists all across time and space, I didn't know why I was on Earth when I was, she took control, this was why, she wanted me too bring you home,"

Leo was shocked, he couldn't think, his head was throbbing. From his pocket a pendent was produced, his arms moving of their own will, it glowed feircely and suddenly he just wasn't...him.

Memories.

His eyes flashed as he remembered everything, especially the one thing he didn't want to. Why he had too leave.
It was cold and dark, they were everywhere, cold, hard, emotionless monsters. They killed everyone, except him. A war that would never had happened if it wasn't for the fact they could only hate. The sound of bombs and lasers were drowned out buy one defeaning war cry:
"Exterminate,"

The Truth About Leo Part 2

Was there something wrong with him? It intrigued and scared Leo that he wasn't quite... right. It was as if there was a part of him he didn't know about. An alien side. That thirsted for knowledge and blood. But his natural mind told him that that side of him was a figment of his imagination. But another side, that believed in the Doctor and the fact the alien experiences, told him that it was a very much alive part of him, not dead, just dormant, waiting to come to life.

Your probably wondering what sprung these thoughts on him. In all honesty he wasn't sure. Leo had been in a room, a completely alien room, or so he thought. It was like a flashback, the moment his fingers brushed on the marble statue, memories, that had never been there before. And it scared him, thrilled him and most of all, angered him, that he could forget about his own life. The only question that overrides all others now is; what was he?

The Truth About Leo part 1

Running. It seemed a logical thing to do when your with him. The Doctor. He's like a trouble magnet, not too mention a danger to himself! Everywhere we go, every planet, star, moon or constellation, there is trouble and right now they were in the wort of trouble. They were going to die.

"Humans! You have trespassed on Silcillian Reptillia land, you will pay the price,"

Ultra panic mode would be the understatement of the millennia, and for the first time he was beginning to regret his decision of staying with the Doctor. It hadn't been a hard choice. Leo was an orphan, no home, no one who wants him. And no matter where he went, he just didn't fit in. So in some ways he found this a good way to die, in the company of someone who does care.

Suddenly, a siren sounded. Some of the warriors stayed and guarded Leo and his alien friend, others left to see the problem.

The atmosphere changed quickly, the Doctor now had a smile across his face. There were sounds of lasers blasting and the few warriors left dropped dead.

"Hello sweetie"

River Song. Should have guessed. River was the one women who could come near to the Doctor's reputation, if not more. Leo had always had the same respect for her as he had for the Doctor. No real reason for that, but he didn't want a bullet hole in his head.

"What took you so long?!"

The Doctor seemed to though.

The Truth About Leo Prologue

There was a noise- a funny wheezing sound. It seemed so alien, and it promised so much. Adventure, thrill, truth. That's all that Leo wanted.

In front of him now was something that wasn't really expected to be in the middle of a forest- A Big Blue Box. His mouth hung agape and without really thinking, he pushed the door open...

The PTS Column: Doctor Who or Merlin?

Hello, and welcome to a new feature: The PTS Column. This column will appear every Thursday and will include my opinions, thoughts and rants on things. The first column is on what actually was the better series: Doctor Who, or Merlin. I'm not including Being Human, because it's a 15, and the others are a 12, so I can't really compare them. Anyway, so, here's the column!

First of all: Doctor Who came out worst last year, sadly. Not that I didn't enjoy series six - in fact, I enjoyed it a lot, it was just that it didn't do something that Sherlock and Merlin did. Improve. Series six was something of a helter-skelter ride in terms of quality. For every couple of blinders (The Doctor's Wife, The Girl Who Waited), there were bog-average stories (The Curse of the Black Spot, The Almost People) and the consistency suffered as a result.

However, with Merlin, series four marked a sharp rise in quality, and it was all the more enjoyable for it. Gone were the crap comedy episodes with pixies, in were the dark arc-centric one-offs, and the series really felt better as a result. I actually preferred Merlin to Doctor Who last year, because Merlin was consistent, and Doctor Who was not.

So there you are, my thoughts. The PTS Column will return Thursday 16 February!

The Bourne Legacy Trailer

Yup, here I am again, breaking my protocol of posting about telly. Actually, screw the protocol. Anyway, here's the first trailer for a film that hasn't been broadly publicized, The Bourne Legacy. I loved the original Bourne trilogy, so here's to hoping that Legacy is as good. The trailer's great, happily. Snowy forest action scenes!

The Bourne Legacy hits cinemas on August 3, 2012.

Whitehouse and Chibnall for Series 7

As Doctor Who series seven starts to film soon, there's a lot of news coming through about the series. We had Steve Thompson confirmed at the weekend, and it looks like Toby Whitehouse and Chris Chibnall will join him. Toby 'Being Human' Whitehouse penned the 2006 episode School Reunion, the 2010 episode The Vampires of Venice and last year's The God Complex, and he'll be back to write episode three.

Chris Chibnall wrote the Series 3 episode 42 and the Series 5 two-parter The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood, and he'll be back too to pen an episode of series 7, which airs this autumn and next winter. So, what do you think of the news?

Prophecies and Properness Preview

So, I've been mentioning on Twitter about a new Being Human fic. And so, before it's uploaded, here's a sneak preview of chapter one of my 'sarcastic series four companion':

MEMOS (The main part of the story, the fictional memos to the characters – and the part I owe most credit to Kitty O, so thank you. The answers will be posted with episode two, please try and guess!)
One – You see, that's the way to deal with grief. Not going all mopey and sitting there guarding your daughter with a stake, instead, trying to be cheerful and helpful and making tea! Even though you broke down in tears minutes after making said tea. I don't blame you – at least you didn't- I'll stop now.
You also said my new favourite word – Twattage. I really have no idea where that came from, but still! And you continued to be awesome throughout the episode – trying to save the baby, threatening vampires and then being there to say goodbye to George. I hope you continue to be like this every episode. Please?
Yours sincerely,
PTS
Two Well hi there. Well not really, hi, I've already seen you. But it was nice to see you in a beefed-up series regular role. You were pretty great last series, and it's nice to see that you're still awesome. Although didn't McNair say last series to live a normal life and stop killing vampires? Er...
But still, Eve the baby wouldn't have survived without your vampire killings. And she's the war child and all. So she has to stay alive. And it looks like you'll be taking George's place in Honolulu Heights, which is cool with me. After all, it'll be fun to see how you and new vampire Hal get on. Badly, by the looks of the next time trailer. Did I just say next time trailer to you?
With kind regards,
PTS

Prophecies and Properness: Eve of the War will be coming tonight and linked here tomorrow!

The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer

Yes, I know I'm breaking protocol by posting this. Is there even a protocol? Anyway, I'm taking exception and posting the fantastic trailer that came online today for the upcoming reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. It's really, really great.

Being Human: The Old Ones Prequel

The BBC released a prequel for Being Human series four just after the broadcast of episode one, teasing the vampire Old Ones. You can see it below, but it's recommended that you don't watch if you haven't watched episode one! Also, the ending is awesome. I grinned so much.

Being Human: The Complete Fourth Series is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on 23 April 2012.

Day of the Moon

No, I'm not talking about episode 2 of series 6 of Doctor Who, I'm talking about tonight's Being Human series four premiere! (Although the title may or may not have been a deliberate reference to that episode). TONIGHT, George defends his table with a stake, Tom makes burgers in a cafe, and Annie goes all maternal.

Long-term readers (hello, people at The Whoniverse Blog, if you're still reading this!) might remember this, or this, pre-episode round-ups. Well, I'm resurrecting 'em for Being Human series four, posting a few hours before each episode airs! I'll also be doing post-episode round-eps, with my reaction to the episode and the next time trailer, HOPEFULLY. So, without further ado, here's a clip from Eve of the War:

'That werewolf is the last of its kind. We kill her. We kill her now.'

EVE OF THE WAR airs tonight on BBC Three at 9pm.

US fans of the US version, there's a brand new Being Human (US flavour) episode tonight, titled All Out of Blood at 9/8C on Syfy!

Here's where we left George, Annie and Nina at the end of series three:

The Renovation Begins!

Yep, I'm back. Again. After a really long seven month break, I'm returning to Pre Titles Sequence. For good. But, to drag Pre Titles Sequence into 2012, I'm beginning a huge renovation. First, a new logo/header, and then colour changes, I'm importing stuff from Life, Merlin and Twitter in, and there'll be hopefully a guest poster or two. I'm hoping to get the changes done by Saturday, and there won't be any blog posts until then. Also, the blog will now cover Sherlock, since I LOVE THAT SHOW. Anyway, I digress. Please enjoy the blog!
